Theresa comes from a family of entrepreneurs who immigrated here from Southern Italy in the 1930s.
Her grandfather was an entrepreneur and investor in Highland Park (located in East Los Angeles) and was a nature lover as well. He was known in his neighborhood as the one who would feed all the local creatures while also taking in stray dogs and cats when they would show up at his doorstep.
Theresa was born and raised in La Canada Flintridge, a suburb outside of LA. Her childhood home had a garden which was surrounded by a beautiful bounty of fruit trees – every kind you could imagine from apples, lemons , and plums!
She was also fortunate to grow up with chickens and rabbits who lived harmoniously in cycle with her father’s garden where they would munch on his lettuce, mustard green plants, and carrots and in turn would fertilize his garden with their wonderfully fertile and organic waste. She had a great appreciation for nature at a young age. In fact, she and her cousin (who lived up the street) were among the very few people in her city whose fathers grew their own vegetables and raised their own animals.
As a little girl, Theresa always had a global vision and yearn to help humanity. She prayed at night for world peace and for all beings that were suffering .
She has a BA in Comparative Politics and a Master’s Degree in Education. She has lived in England, where she studied Sustainable Development and in Thailand where she worked as an Elementary school teacher and volunteered at a Tsunami relief center. She also worked with the Citizen’s Diplomacy Council of San Diego, and taught Business English at UCSD.
She has always been passionate about causes pertaining to the environment. When she was in college she worked with Friends of the Sea Lion (a rescue and release facility) in Laguna Beach and with The Bolsa Chica Land Trust in Orange County. She now works with the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation and her local Surfrider chapter in North County San Diego.
Green Kompassion came to her one day while walking on the beach after just having finished a self transformation retreat. Since she has always had a passion to help the planet, she is now pursuing her purpose and sharing the “music” from her spirit which is to be the voice for nature and for the planet. Nature is asking us all to wake up and see what we are doing to her and to change our habits before it’s too late. We take so much from her, it’s time for us humans to give back to her to help her to protect her -the first step in awareness.
What is the connection between MIND, BODY & PLANET?
This is clear if we understand the need for the BALANCE of MIND and BODY. If we haven’t done so already, we must begin to develop Emotional Awareness which then leads to emotional intelligence, which then leads to a life lived out of purpose and meaning. There must be a BALANCE for healing to take place -healing of ourselves and of our planet.
Understanding our minds and ourselves and taking care of our bodies will allow us to help take care of mother earth better. It is green kompassion’s holistic and all encompassing mission to help her and keep her magical God given beauty for our future generations ..
It is the right and just thing to do. We all know this in our hearts. Let these words and the words of other Visionaries help guide you to your heart. We can easily forget that we come from the EARTH, we are not separate from her, as much as we are in this technologically advanced society. No one can deny the feeling that one gets from being in Nature whether at the beach, on a lake, hiking a mountain, in the forest, or any other magical place that she provides us with. We are all in this together – please stand up and make compassionate and conscious choices to help save our PLANET and her OCEANS.
A world without post consumer plastic waste.
A world where we live in harmony with Mother Earth.
A world where humans are not interrupting the harmonious cycle of life that allows her to function and to give us the air we breath, the water we drink, and the food we eat.
A planet where humans give back to nature the same amount that they take.
A world free of chemicals that pollute our minds, bodies, and the soil that feeds our food.
A society where the hearts and minds of our leaders care about the health and wellness of their society and the health and wellness of the planet over the profit and bottom line of their companies and organizations.
The time is now to take it into our own hands and to rise above and join together as citizens of Planet Earth to protect her and to protect ourselves from the destructive machine of plastic waste that is plaguing our planet.
