“You are the books your read, the movies you watch, the music you listen to, the people you spend time with, the conversations you engage in…” – @thinkgrowprosper
Treat your mind like you treat your body and feed it healthy food!
Imagine your mind is just like your body, and the examples illustrated in the quote above are the food for your mind.
Be mindful of what you watch on TV, for you are feeding your mind messages; what you feed your mind will come out in your beliefs, actions, and perceptions.
Reality TV is like junk food for our minds. It feeds into our insecurities, sense of lack, envy and many more ego based emotions.
Violent shows are also a form of junk food. Tit Nat Han, said in his book “Peace in Every Step”, violence and gore on TV “pollute our consciousness”. Those images are planted in our minds and come out eventually in our perceptions of reality, or in physical manifestations.
Have you ever found yourself talking to someone about a show or movie you watched, and maybe that show or movie was violent or disturbing? How does that conversation make you feel? Why waste time talking about a story that was filled with fear when you could be talking about a topic that brings connection between you and the other person? Why not talk about something that brings you joy or that advances your knowledge?
Don’t pollute your minds with junk food instead fill it with wisdom.
Your mind is like your body; good habits lead to good outcomes. So we need to practice feeding our minds healthy food and we need to exercise it with daily rituals such as Self Love and Gratitude.
INSIGHT TIMER is one of my favorite apps that has free guided meditations, great food for your mind!
Time is precious, use it wisely!
